With an eye-catching breakthrough performance, 19 year-old Daniel Awde culminated a staggering 7704 points to take the senior men’s decathlon title and assert his Olympic aspirations by surpassing the Olympic ‘B’ qualification standard for this summer’s Beijing Games.
The Woodford Green with Essex Ladies athlete’s score was a mere three points off the 7707 Championship Record, held by Barry Thomas and dating back to 1976 and added a staggering 419 points to his best mark
